*sigh*

Well, at 4:30 this morning, I heard Eva climb out of bed and go to the door. I called to her, but she left and closed the door. I waited a few minutes and when she didn't come back, I got out of bed to look for her.

I opened the bedroom door to find her standing in the middle of the next room, sobbing. The same as the night before. I can only assume that she didn't realize that I was laying mere feet away from her and that she just assumed I wasn't there last night because I wasn't there the night before.

I don't recall all of the details, as I was still half asleep, but I think I asked her if she was scared and she said yes. I'm not sure what to do. Is she saying yes because I mentioned it even though she hadn't even thought about it? If I ask her what's the matter, she just keeps sobbing, but if I give her something to think about, she calms down. I don't want her to be thinking about being scared, though!

If it happens again tonight, we will try something different. Maybe I'll ask her if she saw the butterflies. Something completely random just to catch her off guard. My hypothesis is that it will either make her stop and think about why I'm asking her that, or it'll just make her sob more because I don't know what I'm talking about.

We'll see, we'll see.

'The Bunny Book'

In case you were wondering, 'The Bunny Book' is actually a board book, called Snuggle Bunnies, given to Eva in 2007 by Bubbles and Pop, Eric's grandparents. The only reason it is at my house instead of Eric's is because Eric didn't want to read it. Too many words, practically little paragraphs on every page. There was no way you could keep her attention on one page long enough to read even a third of what was written! He didn't feel it was practical for her age.

This past week, this book has become the favorite. When ever we go to bed, "Get the Bunny Book, Mommy!"

Tonight, she took the book away from me halfway through and summarized every page through the end of the book. She's one smart cookie, if I do say so myself and adorable, to boot!

The glorious sound of a sleeping toddler...

Eva has not been sleeping well lately. She has been very clingy and has been waking up in the middle of the night to crawl into bed with me.

Last night, I wasn't there when she woke up. She made her way to the living room and stood there bawling. I swept her into my arms and sat down on the floor with her, holding her tightly, close to my heart.

I asked her what was wrong. Did she have a bad dream? Did something scare her?

Yes. The dinosaurs scared her.

Oh dear. Darn you dinosaurs! Where did you come from? Why are you here? Is it just to torment my precious baby girl? (and myself?!) No, No Dinosaurs! That's not nice! You get out of my Eva's head and go back to whatever crevice or storybook or movie you came from!

I was able to get her calmed down relatively easily and we went back to bed, read 'The Bunny Book' and both fell asleep.

Tonight, she fell asleep fairly easily. One story, no protests at me leaving the room, no screaming at the door for me to come lay down with her, nothing! I am hoping that this will continue, but, honestly, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Feeling much better!

Eva is still coughing and has a runny nose, but no more diarrhea! Thank goodness!

Last night, She told me she didn't want to go back to bed because it was too dark, so I turned the lamp on and she fell right back to sleep. We might be looking in to getting a nightlight this evening. I was able to turn it off after she had fallen asleep without her waking up, so I don't know.

I will probably pick one up anyways. I'm always tripping over that darn Zebra in the middle of the night!

Sick, ick.

It is Monday and we are staying home because Eva had multiple bouts of diarrhea yesterday. I know, I know, just what you wanted to hear. Thankfully, I can still say that I have not changed a poopy diaper in weeks.

Last night, she went in the big potty, decided she still had to go so she sat down on her Eva-sized potty. I turned away from her to do something and heard her scooting across the bathroom. I turned back around to see that she had spilled part of the contents of her potty onto my bathroom floor.

We had an impromptu bath.

She has been coughing since Saturday night/Sunday morning. She was still coughing this morning, but she hasn't had any diarrhea since last night. If she does, I will be making an appointment with the pediatrician and we will probably have to skip work/daycare again tomorrow.

Cross your fingers for no ickies!

Thursday

Today is Thursday.

We have a standing playdate invitation with my friend Liza and her daughter, Eva's Best Friend, Caitlyn for every Thursday that the timing is right. We go over to Liza and Caitlyn's for dinner and playtime. It's lots of fun!

Today, however, was just one of those days. You know the days I'm talking about. The one where everything goes wrong? Yeah, it was one of those days for Liza, too.

I offered to run by the store on the way to her place. It takes about as long to get to her place as it does to get to mine. On a good day, I can leave work around 5 and get home by 6. Liza called me on my cell phone at 5:30 to see whether it would be easier for me to go by the store or her. I was still at work. She went to the store.

I finally left work around 6. It was already dark and I nearly missed my turn for the daycare because I had never gone there after dark before.

I decided against taking the highway to get to Liza's. So, we're on a residential street turning on to a slightly busier street with a green arrow. I felt something on my hand. Since it was already dark and I couldn't see and didn't want to look down as I was about to turn, I lifted my hand towards my face. What do you think I found?

A Spider.

I freaked, swatted it and lost it. The car swerved and Eva squealed. "The car scare' me Momma!"

At the next red light, I unbuckled my seat belt, turned on the over head light and looked for it. I couldn't find it anywhere. What a nice way to start my 30 minute trip across town.

A few minutes later, Eva began to sing 'The Itsy, Bitsy Spider.' It took all I had not to giggle hysterically at the irony.

_ _ _

We made it to Liza's without any further 'surprises'. Liza had already started dinner, chicken Parmesan using make-shift bowls and cookie sheets made out of tin foil to go in the oven. (She hasn't lived there long and has not had a chance to acquire a full set of pots and pans.)

The chicken she bought turned out to be thicker than she wanted and the crust was nearly burnt by the time the chicken was cooked all the way through. I think it turned out really well. She was able to cut smaller pieces for the girls so that theirs weren't burnt.

By the time dinner was ready, Liza had already spilled water on her pants, burnt her hand on a pan and splattered tomato sauce on the floor. It was an interesting ordeal.

We got the girls' food together and set them down at the table. At one point Eva decided that she wanted to sit on the floor and eat her food our of her chair. Then Caitlyn wanted to do the same. Which resulted in Caitlyn's plate being knocked to the floor and splattered all over the carpet. I quickly fed Eva the rest of her dinner and we stuck the girls in the bath.

With both Liza and myself exhausted, we read them a bedtime story and Caitlyn went to bed. Well, that would be the simple way to say it. Actually she avoided going to bed and made everything leading up to lying down to go to sleep long and drawn out. I'm pretty sure she was still awake when we took our leave.

When we got home, I had Eva go potty (I am proud to say I have not changed a poopy diaper in weeks), brush her teeth, put on her jammies and give her PaPa a hug night night. We then snuggled for a night time story and some sleepy time songs. She laid down and has not been up since.

I should have gone to sleep long since.

Far from The Great Valley...

Apparently, there are Dinosaurs roaming through my car. Their favorite places to rest are on MY hand and on Eva's Carseat.

I blew them off my hand, then they were in the other car, then they were back in the car on Eva's carseat.

After I picked her up from daycare yesterday, she kept saying, "The dinosaurs scarin' me momma." So I told her to tell them, "No, NO dinosaurs! That's not nice! Don't scare Eva! Love Eva!"

This morning, the dinosaurs were back. I heard , "NoNO dinosaurs! That not NICE! *whoosh* I blew them off my carseat!" the whole ride to daycare.

She knows what she wants!

So the other night, I was over near Eric's house and he came over. Everyone left and we ended up at the car. I handed Eva a toy before we put her in her carseat. Pablo the Penguin and his Singing and Talking Dunebuggy. She dropped Pablo.

Me: "Oh no! Is Pablo hurt?"
Eva: "Pablo's got owie! Kiss IT!"
Me: "Kiss it? Oh dear, where does it hurt, Pablo?"
Eva: "His hand hurt, kiss his hand!"
Me: "His Hand? okay, I'll kiss his hand." *kiss*
Eva: "Kiss his head! His head hurt!"
Me: "Okay, poor Pablo!" *kiss* *pause*
Eva: "He hurt his Butt. Kiss his Butt, Mommy! Kiss his Butt!"
Eric: *barely stifled laughter*
Me: *stifling laughter* "No, honey, I am not going to kiss Pablo's butt. I'm sorry." *snort*
Eva: "No, Mommy! Kiss his BUTT!"
Eric: *fully laughing now, not even trying to stifle*
Me: "Let's get in your carseat, honey..." *face red from trying not to laugh*

So we got her in her carseat and she's playing with her toy and I was talking to Eric about what we're doing that coming Friday since I was going out of town. I was supposed to meet up and be ready to go at 5:30. He normally picks her up at my house (across town) at 6.

So we were talking and still laughing. Eva was jabbering to herself. She called for me and I told her I love her. She replies with her normal, "I love ChooToo!" without even looking at me. Eric laughs and tells me that it sounded like she said she loves shoes. "I love you!" "I love shoes!" HA! - yeah, I smacked him. (no, not really!)

So we started talking again when we hear from the car:

"Get inna car, Mommy. Mommy? Get inna car. BYE BYE DADDY. Get inna CAR Momma! Get in your car Daddy! Bye Bye Daddy!"

Guess she was ready to go home!

Hello!

If you are here it is because you are somehow connected with Miss Eva Michelle and would like to keep up with her life.

Miss Eva Michelle was born on August 22, 2006 at 2:45pm. She weighed 8lb 2oz and was 19 1/2in long. She is now over 2 years old, 30lbs and 3 feet tall! What a difference!

I have created a photobucket account where I will be posting pictures. The photobucket account will have a guest password. If you do not already have this password, you may e-mail me or leave a comment telling me how you are connected to Miss Eva Michelle with your e-mail address included. Please do not give out the password without my permission.

In the next few days (or so) I will be archiving older pictures from the past two years as well as adding more recent pictures. Please be patient.

To get you started, here is a funny story from September of 2007:

"See? Mommy likes it!! It’s yummy!!"

So, last night I made Eva a hot dog. I figured, she knows how to eat string cheese sticks, I think she can figure out hot dogs without choking or something...

I give her the hot dog and she takes one little tiny bite and spits it right back out!! So, of course, I want to show her how good it is by taking a bite and saying, "See? Mommy likes it!! It's yummy!!"

So literally, she says, "Well, then YOU eat it!!"

Okay, so maybe she didn't literally say that, but she meant it!! As soon as I took a bite, she shoved it back into my mouth for me to take another bite and as soon as i had taken my second bite, she shoved it back in my mouth again!! This went on for the whole first half of the hot dog and continued when I brought over the second half to see if she might think it was something different. Nope, no such luck, as soon as I got down in front of her with it, she shoved it right into my mouth! (do you see the pattern here?)

I guess we won't be having hot dogs for dinner again anytime soon...
